There are many variations, but the most common version is capture the flag. The players divide in two groups and try to capture the flag in the middle of the range. Our exile island range gives this version a whole new dimension and initiative is definitely the winning factor here. (See photo album)
Another version is where every team gets a flag and you try to steal the other team's flag and carry it back to your home base. The team that manages to steal the other team's flag is then the winning team. While you are trying to capture a flag, you also try to eliminate opposing players by tagging them with a paintball expelled from a special air gun called a paint gun or marker.
Ambush: In this game, one team goes into the field to a destination of their own choosing, and setup a base. When the game starts the other team has to find them and capture the flag, taking it 5 meters from where it was hanging to win.
Zombie: This is usually played at the end of day, and quite simply is a 'shoot em up' type of game where there is no game objective. No one is out until they run out of pellets. This game is hugely popular, which could prove there are some really strange people out there.
You are however welcome to be inventive and think up some new ones.
Referees on the field start and stop games, enforce the rule of fair play, and control the sport's safety. Each playing field has a marked boundary. A player who goes out-of-bounds is eliminated from that game.
Between games, players take a break to check their equipment, reload their paintballs, and have a snack or soda while they share stories about the thrills of victory and the (usually) funny agonies of defeat.
Win or lose, everyone has a good time, and there's always the next game waiting for you!
